Domaine Sainte Cécile du Parc Notes Franches

New Vintage!  80% Cabernet Franc (a popular varietal in Virginia) and 20% Merlot, this medium-bodied red wine has more fruit than you'd expect from Cabernet Franc, plus notes of herbs, flowers, and even a little cedar. It's a great red for nearly any meal, and can carry over to special occasions.

Domaine Sainte Cécile du Parc Notes Franches

About This Wine:
Domaine Sainte Cécile du Parc was started by Stéphane Mouton and Christine Mouton Bertoli in 2005. They moved to the Languedoc in southwestern France in 2003 after living in Tuscany for several years. The owner who sold them the property had sold his grapes to the cooperative winery in Pézenas, but Stéphane and Christine wanted to make their own wine. Along with Jérôme Debrun, the estate manager, they first undertook a complete examination of the property and vines, keeping the best and planting new where needed, and created a new winery, which saw its first production in 2011. Sainte Cécile du Parc is currently in conversion to organic grape production for red wines, the rosé is already organic. First Vine was the first U.S. importer of Domaine Sainte Cécile du Parc wines.

Notes Franches is a medium-bodied red wine made from 80% Cabernet Franc and 20% Merlot. 2010 is the first vintage for this cuvée. Cabernet Franc is a popular grape in Virginia wines where it can sometimes lack for fruit flavors, but not this one -- and the blend with Merlot rounds out the rich fruit aromas and flavors that accompany floral and herbal notes. A portion of the wine is aged in oak for smoothness, but there's also a slight aroma of woodsy-ness that doesn't come from the oak. If you've been looking for something different yet tasty in a red wine, this one's for you!
