Cantine Borga Prosecco Brut Millesimato
New Selection! What can you say about Prosecco that hasn't been said before? Seriously, it's a mouthful of citrus and pear flavors, a beautifully balanced sip of bubbly delights.
Cantine Borga was founded in 1940 in the Treviso area of the Veneto in northeastern Italy. The winery is 30 kilometers from Venice, located between the mountains and the sea.
Borga is currently owned and managed by four cousins, descended from the winery’s founders. Martino manages logistics, Caterina is the sales manager, Antonio is the production manager, and Riccardo manages the vineyards. They produce wines with the region’s native grapes and also some international varietals. First Vine is the first importer to sell Borga wines in the U.S.
This is First Vine’s first time importing Prosecco and it’s delicious. There are pear and citrus flavors in every sip, with a little mineral quality for backbone, and good acidity. Plus there are bubbles! The tiny bit of residual sugar makes each sip a little rounder. It’s perfect on its own, or with food or dessert.
Pale straw yellow wine, characterized by a fine and persistent pearlage. On the nose, the aromatic profile reveals itself through fresh white flowers, notes of pear and hints of citrus on a mineral backbone. The sip is well balanced, enveloping, full of freshness and gustatory persistence. Long, savory finish.
After the harvest, the freshly picked grapes are taken to the cellar and de-stemmed. Soft pressing follows to obtain the first pressing, then the selected yeasts are added and sent to fermentation which takes place at a controlled temperature between 16° and 18°. The following second fermentation takes place with the Charmat Method in about 60 days.
