customer service Orders, Delivery and Such: First Vine can deliver to any address (home or office) in Washington, DC, Virginia, or California. We also ship to certain zip codes in Alaska. As of January 1, 2012, First Vine can ship to 13 additional states through Vinoshipper (see details below). Delivery in Washington, DC is free for orders of six bottles or more, and $5.00 for fewer than six bottles. Virginia orders are shipped via Fedex Ground**, and the cost will vary depending on quantity and destination. For example, shipping one case (12 bottles) to Arlington would cost about $20. Keep in mind that you will also be charged Virginia alcohol sales and excise taxes, which are substantially lower than DC’s, so when all is said and done the total cost won’t be much more than if the wine were delivered to DC. Fedex also requires us to purchase special containers for shipment, since Fedex won't accept our producers' cases for alcohol. So we have had to add the cost of the container as a handling charge. We're working with our producers to try and get them to use "ship compliant" containers next year, and I hope we'll be able to reduce or eliminate the handling charge soon. Please also note that Virginia allows you to receive a maximum of two cases of wine per month per person from out of state. first vine reports all Virginia sales and deliveries to the State of Virginia, as required by law. California orders are also shipped by Fedex Ground**. Shipping one case generally costs $45-$50, depending on the weight of the bottles. It takes 4-5 business days for delivery once Fedex picks up your shipment. We are not required to collect California sales tax for delivery to California. Alaska orders can only be sent to particular zip codes that allow deliveries of alcohol. If you submit an order for Alaska delivery, we will check with the state to be certain that your order can be shipped before charging your credit card. It takes at least 6 business days for delivery once Fedex** picks up your shipment. We are not required to collect Alaska sales tax for delivery to Alaska. Delivery is approximately $150 for a case by Fedex Ground** and $250 for a case by air. You can order online anytime day or night, and you'll receive an e-mail confirming the order. Orders will be processed and deliveries made between 9AM and 9PM, Monday - Saturday. We'll contact you during business hours about delivery arrangements. A few things to keep in mind: * You must be 21 or older to order wine. * Whoever receives the wine must be 21 or older and will have to sign for the wine. We are required to show that we obtained proof of ID if there is any question about this. * If you're drunk when the wine shows up, you will not be allowed to receive it. Seriously. * We are not allowed to leave packages of wine on your doorstep, or even hidden in the bushes. The wine must be handed to a person. * It's fine to use a business address as your shipping address if you're allowed to receive deliveries there, especially if you work in DC. * Questions? They must be delivered to a person. If you would like to have your shipment delivered between 5:00 and 9:00 pm, please make a note in the special instructions box that you'd prefer evening delivery.
